TRANSLATION
What will we be learning in this lesson?

  • In this lesson, you will learn how to translate shapes and create tessellations.
Vocabulary words are found in this purple color throughout the lesson. Remember to put these in your notebook.

Translation

  • Designs are also often made by translating objects and shapes.
Translating an object is sliding it across the paper.
  • The shape does not flip or turn at all.

Tessellation

A Tessellation is when you continually rotate an object around different points until it has completely covered the plane.

  • Look as this triangle gets rotated. The point of rotation changes each time.
