There are twenty one different species of cockatoo. Eleven of the twenty one species exist in the wild only in Australia. Seven of the species can be found in the islands of Indonesia, New Guinea, the Philippines and the Solomon Islands. They tend to be larger than parrots. Cockatoos are very popular as pets.
