Cartilage is a connective tissue found in many areas of the body including bone joints (e.g., elbow, knee and ankle), rib cage, ear, nose, bronchial tubes, and intervertebral discs. Cartilage is not as rigid as bone, but is less flexible than muscle. It provides structure and support to other body tissues, and provides cushioning between joints. There are three types, elastic cartilage, hyaline cartilage and fibrocartilage. Interested in learning more about cartilage? Check out the following cartilage videos.
