To find the perimeter of an object, such as a square or rectangle, measure each side of the object, and then add the measurements.

The perimeter of a square = 4 × S,
where S is the length of the side of the square.

The perimeter of a rectangle = 2 × ( L + W ),
where L = length and W = width.
