The grouper is native to many of the world's warmer oceans. They are found primarily in shallow tropical waters among coral and artificial reefs. They are a large fish, typically weighing up to 200 pounds. However, the goliath grouper off the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Caribbean, and Brazilian coast can weigh up to 800 pounds and measure up to 8 feet in length.
