The elbow is a joint connecting the upper arm with the lower arm or forearm. The elbow joint interconnects the radius and ulna bones of the lower arm with the humerus bone of the upper arm. This connection is formed through a series of muscles, ligaments and tendons. The upper arm muscles pass over the elbow joint and connect to bones of the forearm. Similarly, muscles of the forearm cross the elbow joint and attached to the humerus bone of the upper arm. This crossing of muscles provides for elbow stability, and arm movement at the elbow.
