The San Gabriel Arcangel mission was a very successful farming center, leading all of the missions in agriculture production. The mission also made thousands of gallons of wine and brandy each year. This success was owed to an extensive irrigation system and a large water powered mill. Although most mission properties deteriorated after secularization, the church is still in excellent condition.
