Bald Eagle

The Bald Eagle is the symbol bird of the United States of America. The Bald Eagle represents the traits of courage, independence, and strength. It is a large eagle with white-feathered head and neck.

The Bald Eagle appears on most of its official seals, including the Seal of the President of the United States.

Some Native American cultures considered the Bald Eagle a sacred bird. The features of Bald Eagles played a role in many religious and spiritual customs.

The Bald Eagle is a powerful flier. With a wing span of up to 8 feet, it can soar on thermal updrafts. In normal flight, the Bald Eagle can reach speeds up to 35 to 45 miles per hour. When diving the Bald Eagle can reach a speed of 75 to 100 miles per hour.
