The skunk can be found in the Americas from Canada to Central America. They can also be found in the Philippines and Indonesia. The skunk is a small mammal easily recognized by two main characteristics. Most skunks are black with a white stripe across their back and tail. Skunks also have scent glands capable of spraying a chemical with an offensive smell. They use this spray to defend themselves and deter predators.
