The coyote is very commonly found throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central America. The coyote is also known as the prairie wolf. The name coyote comes from the Mexican Spanish word coyotl, meaning barking dog. They have a very recognizable sound, and are often heard howling, yelping or yipping. Coyotes typically travel and hunt in packs. They are one of the few animals that have adapted well to human encroachment. Play the following movies to learn more about the coyote.
