The coyote is very commonly found throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central America. The coyote is also known as the prairie wolf. The name coyote comes from the Mexican Spanish word coyotl, meaning barking dog. They have a very recognizable sound, and are often heard howling, yelping or yipping.
