The white-breated nuthatch is native to southern Canada, the United States and Mexico. Its habitat is deciduous forests and wooded suburbs. It has dark gray or black upper parts with a white face and under parts. The birds song is a series of soft, slightly nasal "what, what, what" sounds and sometimes a soft "yank.
