The Common Loon is also known as the Great Northern Diver. They are native to Canada, northern United States, Greenland, Iceland and parts of Europe. Although a bird, they are great swimmers and divers in the water. They can dive as deep as 200 feet to catch their fish prey. The common loon is the Minnisota State Bird.
