Congruent Figures

Two plane figures are congruent, if they have the same size and shape.

Figures1 and 2 are congruent.

How can you say that?

Method of Superposition

1. Cut a figure along the borders carefully.

2. Now place this on the other figure.
Remember, you can rotate or flip to match them.

3. If the other figure is covered completely, the figures are congruent.

Note: Figures that differ in shape or size are never congruent.
