Muscular System Video:Muscle and the Nervous System Video Muscle, Tendon, Bone Connection Video Muscular System Overview Video |
There are two sets of deep back muscles supporting the vertebrae. These are the erector spinae and the transversospinalis muscles. The erector spinae extend from the back of the skull to the pelvis. They help control forward and backward bending of the spine. They are also involved in sideways bending of the body, and twisting movement of the spine. The transversospinalis muscles are similar to the erector spinae, but located deeper beneath the erector spinae muscles. Check out the following videos on vertebrae muscles. For additional information, also see our vertebral muscle reference materials. |
