About Animals: |
The American Toad is native to much of North America from northern Mexico through the United States to Canada. Their habitat is freshwater ponds or pools, near vegetation for cover and food. They are generally brown, but can also be red with light patches of olive or gray. Their bellies are a white or yellow color. Their skin has glands that produce a poisonous milky fluid providing protection against many of their predators. American toads make one of the most recognizable sounds for calling a mate. Also, when a toad calls its throat puffs out like a large balloon. Play the following videos to learn more about the American Toad. |
