There are many hip muscles that provide for a wide variety of movement at the hip. The hip joint is one of the more flexible joints in the body. It is capable of providing: forward and backward movement of the leg (flexion and extension); side movement of the leg (abduction and adduction); and, outward or inward rotation of the leg (lateral and medial). Interested in learning more about the hip muscles? Check out the following videos on the hip muscles. For additional information, also see our hip muscle reference materials.
