The tongue is a muscle on the floor of the mouth. It is used to manipulate food for chewing and swallowing. The tongue also plays two roles unrelated to the digestive system. The upper surface of the tongue has taste buds that provide us with our sense of taste. The tongue is also used in speech, and the formation of sounds. Interested in learning more about the tongue? Check out the following videos on tongue. For additional information, also see our tongue reference materials.
